A shooting took place outside the Caldwell County courthouse on Monday morning. Chad James Emke 48, faces assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and child endangerment. Lenoir Police responded when a 35 year old victim was apparently shot by Emke after he approached Emke’s vehicle. The man was taken to Charlotte Carolina’s Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Emke had a custody related court date, the two men were acquainted. No court date is set, Emke is jailed under a $500,000 secured bond.
