The North Carolina State Board of Elections has upheld a Burke County ruling. Jim Jacumin will remain on the ballot for the mayoral race in Valdese. At issue was residency. Jacumin has a residence now in Valdese since June but lived in Connelly Springs for many years prior. The state board voted unanimously to uphold the 3-2 vote of the Burke County Board of Election.
