Heavy damage was caused by fire at a Hickory residence. The Hickory Fire Department and Catawba County EMS responded on Wednesday night to the fire at 819 Highland Ave SE. One resident was outside and was taken to the hospital. The Red Cross is assisting the occupants. The fire investigators said the cause of the fire was accidental caused by heating.
