The Morganton Department of Public Safety ended a standoff peacefully Thursday morning. Officers responded to a call on Rhyne St near Burkemont Ave around 215am. An individual was armed and barricaded in the home. Area residents were advised of the situation with reverse 911 calls. A crisis negotiator with MDPS talked with the person and they surrendered. That person was taken for medical evaluation. The incident ended around 715am.
