A first degree murder charge was filed against a Hickory man. 35 year old Eddie Dantea Propst also faces assault on a female and assault by strangulation. The charge is in connection with the death of 29 year old Laura Matthews who was found deceased at her residence on Sunday. Propst is in the Catawba County Detention Center under no bond on the murder charge and a $165,000 bond on the other charges.
