Faulty Design

bridge-collapse

According to a preliminary report from a forensic engeneering firm, faulty design caused the arches in Hickory to fall.  The wooden structure over the Rudy Wright bridge collapsed on February 18th.  The firm, FORCON International finished their report on May 23rd.  The city spent $750,000 on the project.  The city is suing Neill Grading, Dane Construction and Western Wood and now Gilham, the designer.  The report however, stated no fault was found on the part of Neill Grading or Dane Construction as they followed Western Wood’s instructions.  The city amended the lawsuit to add Gilham, to the others being sued.
