The City of Hickory will close its offices on Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. City of Hickory offices will reopen on Tuesday, July 5, at 8:30 a.m.

Other city department closings and/or schedule updates:

The Solid Waste Division and its services will operate on a normal schedule.

Hickory Public Library, the Patrick Beaver Memorial main facility and the Ridgeview Branch, will be closed on Monday, July 4.

The Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Administrative Offices and all recreation centers will be closed on Monday, July 4. Parks are open 365 days a year.

Hickory City Council

The regularly scheduled Hickory City Council meeting for Tuesday, July 5, has been cancelled due to the holiday. The only Hickory City Council meeting in July will be on Tuesday, July 19, at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at Julian G. Whitener Municipal Building (Hickory City Hall).

Fireworks will be held in Valdese on Friday night.  The Hickory Crawdads will have fireworks after the game on July 3rd.   Lenoir will have fireworks on July 4th at Mulberry Recreation Center and Morganton will have fireworks on the 4th at Freedom Park.
