The unemployment rate went up across the region for the month of May. Catawba County’s rate is 3.4%, Burke 3.4%, Caldwell 3.6% and Alexander County’s rate is at 3.2%. NC’s unemployment rate is now 3.6% with a .2% increase in most counties.
