RALEIGH – “On the Road, On the Water, Don’t Drink and Drive” is this Labor Day’s weekend campaign message from the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, N.C. State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). This Labor Day weekend the agencies have teamed up to reduce alcohol related accidents.
So, if you go to the Happy Valley Fiddlers Convention, the Carolina Tattoo and Arts Gathering, Hickory’s Sails Music event, Valdese’s Summer concert series, be aware that NCSHP will be patrolling roadways.
If you plan to party on a pontoon, or on the water with friends, make sure you have a designated driver because the NC Wildlife Resource officers will be monitoring waterways. This past Memorial Day and Fourth of July, Wildlife Officers issued approximately 1,000 boating citations, 115 which involved Boating Under the Influence.
