SECOND RABIES CASE CONFIRMED IN CALDWELL COUNTY

LENOIR – According to a press release from Caldwell County government, a skunk has tested positive for rabies.   The infected skunk had contact with a dog on Deer Creek Drive.  The North Carolina State Laboratory notified the county of the positive rabies results on September 6, 2022.

This is the second confirmed case of rabies in Caldwell County this year.  The first confirmed case of rabies was an infected raccoon that had been found on Dave Chester Road.  The raccoon had been in contact with two dogs.    The North Carolina State Laboratory notified Caldwell County of its first confirmed rabies case on April 12, 2022.
