ALEXANDER COUNTY – A fatal accident closed NC 90 for approximately two and a half hours during the on-scene investigation by the NC State Highway Patrol. The accident occurred on Friday, September 9 in Alexander County when a 2014 Dodge Caravan that was traveling east on NC 90, attempted a left turn and collided with a westbound 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Ninety-three-year-old Ruth Lackey, of Hiddenite, was not injured. A passenger in the van was transported by EMS to a local hospital and received treatment injuries. The driver of the motorcycle, fifty-eight-year-old Allen Brent Troutman, of Stony Point, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
