ALEXANDER COUNTY – A Newton woman is facing charges after allegedly leading Alexander County deputies and Taylorsville Police Department officers on a high-speed chase along NC Hwy 16 south last Wednesday (Sept. 7).
According to a September 12 press release from the Alexander County Sheriff’s office, thirty-six-year-old Emily Elizabeth King reportedly led law enforcement on a chase after a suspicious person call was made to 911. Stop sticks brought the chase to a halt, but King reportedly refused to exit the vehicle and had to be forcibly removed. While King was being arrested, the vehicle rolled over a Taylorsville Police Officer’s foot. During the investigation, it was determined that King was not the owner of the vehicle and the vehicle had been reported stolen by the Hickory Police Department.
King was transported to the Alexander County Detention Center and faces multiple charges. King reportedly had outstanding probation violations that were served. King was placed under a $110,500 secured bond and was scheduled to make a first appearance in Alexander County District Court on Monday, September 12, 2022.
