VEHICLE FIRE CAUSES HOUSE FIRE

HICKORY – A fire that started in a vehicle beside a house resulted in a structure fire that damaged a home on Wednesday, September 14 at 9:47 am.
Thick fire and smoke flowed from a home as firefighters arrived on scene at 950 20th Street NW in Hickory.  Fire crews also discovered that two vehicles adjacent to the home were on fire as well.  Hickory Fire Department and Long View Fire Department worked to put out the fire from the outside of the home, due to the instability of the house.  The Hickory Police Department, Catawba County EMS, and Red Cross also arrived to provide support. According to the press release, the fire was determined to be accidental.
