MORGANTON – The Morganton Department of Public Safety is investigating the death of a young man who was reportedly found lying on the side of the road unresponsive on Ross St. in Morganton on Monday, Sept. 22.
The public safety report stated that officers who responded to the mid-afternoon call (3:30 p.m.), found twenty-six-year-old Austin Michael Collins lying on the grass, unresponsive, and not breathing. Burke County EMS responded to the call and Collins was pronounced deceased.
Foul play is not suspected at this time, the investigation into the cause of death is continuing.
