HUDSON – A two truck collision ignited a fire, shut down traffic along Hickory Blvd. for an hour, and sent two individuals to the hospital.
The collision occurred on Hickory Blvd near Pine Mountain Rd yesterday (Sept. 26, 2022) around 10:30 a.m. when a 1998 GMC truck reportedly failed to reduce speed and allegedly collided with the rear of a 2019 Freightliner truck.
Following the collision, the 1998 GMC caught fire, sending Hudson Fire Department into action.
The thirty-six-year-old driver of the GMC, Christopher Swink, was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center. The fifty-four-year-old driver of the Freightliner truck was transported to Valdese Hospital. There is no word to the extent of injuries of either driver.
