CATAWBA– A fatal motorcycle collision shut down a road for approximately three hours yesterday afternoon in Catawba County.  The accident happened on Kale Road near Hudson Chapel Road, when a Harley Davidson motorcycle reportedly crossed the centerline and swiped a Honda CRV.
Both the driver of the motorcycle, forty-three-year-old Tony Travis of Catawba, and the passenger, thirty-six-year-old Jacquelin Danielle York of Claremont, were ejected from the motorcycle.
York succumbed to injuries after being airlifted to a hospital in Winston-Salem, according to the North Carolina State Highway patrol press release. Travis received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center.
