(HICKORY)- A police pursuit ended in a fatality and sent multiple people to the hospital.
On Wednesday, Oct. 5, thirty-year-old Bradley Michael Swink of Claremont allegedly led law enforcement on a chase after he failed to pull over. During the pursuit, Swink reportedly ran a red light and collided with a Jeep at an intersection. He was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead on scene.
Swink was allegedly Honda Accord along Springs Road near 22nd St NE in Hickory when the car was identified by an officer with the City of hickory Police Department as a stolen vehicle. The officer attempted to stop the car, which fled and collided with the Jeep at the Springs Road and McDonald Parkway Intersection. The Jeep flipped onto its side and struck a third vehicle. The four passengers of the jeep, ranging in ages from 15 to 17-years-old, sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Three of the passengers were treated and released, the fourth was in stable condition at the hospital. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured.
Swink was reportedly out on multiple bonds and had multiple outstanding felony warrants for his arrest to include habitual felon, assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, larceny of motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, habitual larceny, driving while impaired and common law robbery.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
