On October 26, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Burke County Sheriff’s responded to 7790 George Hildebran School Road in reference to a stabbing. Arriving deputies located Michael Winstead sitting in a vehicle with a stab wound to the abdomen. Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded and conducted interviews. Winstead was transported to UNC Health Blueridge before being airlifted to a medical trauma center.
