A home in Hickory was badly damaged by a fire on Tuesday. Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control after being called around 6PM. Hickory Fire Department Education Coordinator Terri Byers said The fire was caused by combustibles sitting too close to a heat source. Fortunately no people or pets were injured.
