On Friday, January 27, Alexander County authorities arrested 63-year-old Teresa Ellison Campbell of Statesville on misdemeanor charges of child abuse and assault on a child under 12. The incident occurred on school property, and was reported to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office by Alexander County Schools. After a thorough investigation, officers determined that Campbell, a school staff member, had assaulted a student during school hours. Campbell was given a $30,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in District Court on February 27. The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident and asks anyone with information to contact them.
