On Thursday, February 2nd, Jonathan Wayne Smith, of Salisbury was arrested by the Troutman Police Department following a report of a person concealing items and leaving the Lowe’s Home Improvement store without paying. When store staff confronted him, Smith reportedly pulled out a knife and challenged them to stop him. Officers quickly located the vehicle Smith was in and placed him under arrest. Smith is a convicted felon currently on post-release supervision and has an extensive criminal record including previous convictions for robbery, assault, and similar larceny offenses. Smith remains in the Iredell County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in District Court on February 22nd.
