Statesville Police Officers arrested 18-year-old Carson Dennis Tate III of Salisbury on Friday, February 10th on felony counts of kidnapping and larceny of a motor vehicle, as well as misdemeanor counts of carrying a concealed weapon and resist, obstruct, and delay an officer. The incident began when officers responded to a call regarding the theft of a vehicle that had a 10-year-old child in the back seat. The child was able to escape the vehicle and return home on foot before the suspect drove away in the stolen car. Officers later found the vehicle being driven east on Davie Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. When Tate was taken into custody a firearm was reportedly found in his possession. The weapon was confiscated and the stolen vehicle was returned to its owner. Tate was booked into the Iredell County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today, February 13th. No court date has been listed.
