Man who held up a store is sought by police

Catawba County authorities are on the lookout for an armed robber who broke into a Propst Superette convenience store on Friday night. The suspect, described as an African American man dressed in all black and wearing gloves, reportedly broke the glass of the store’s front entrance and entered the premises just after closing time. The man, armed with a handgun, then allegedly demanded money from the store clerk and fled the scene, running toward Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is now actively investigating the robbery and asking anyone with any information to contact them at 828-464-3112.
