Man Arrested for Assaulting a Law Enforcement Officer

On March 10, 27-year-old Phillip Christopher Carlton was arrested by the Hickory Police in North Carolina and charged with one felony count of assault on a law enforcement officer that resulted in serious injury, as well as one count of habitual misdemeanor assault. Carlton, who is listed as homeless from Hickory, was taken into custody at the Salvation Army Family Store after an altercation with a 48-year-old male. The suspect initially refused to be fingerprinted or photographed, and he was placed in Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $39,000, secured. Carlton is still in jail and has a court appearance on April 3, after having appeared in District Court on March 13.
