Foothills Conservancy announces Permanent Protection of 130 acres

Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina has announced the permanent protection of 130 acres of conservation easements transferred from Duke Energy, aiming to preserve water quality in the upper section of the Catawba River Basin. These lands will become a part of Foothills Conservancy’s protected portfolio around Lake James and will eventually be transferred to the State of North Carolina. The easements were funded by Duke Energy and are part of a long-term conservation plan outlined in the 2006 Comprehensive Relicensing Agreement.
