Caldwell County Man Accused of Breaking into Animal Shelter

23-Year-Old Willian Byrd allegedly broke into the Animal Care Enforcement Facility and took his dog that had been seized by officers. Authorities say that the dog was taken last Saturday night after they received a complaint that a dog was muzzled and tied to a tree. Lenoir Police investigated the incident and charged Byrd with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny of a Dog, Felony Possession of Stolen Property, and Felony Possession of Burglary Tools. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court next month. The dog was returned to his care after officers discovered he was not the person who left the dog muzzled and tied to a tree.
