Burke County Public Schools and Chartwells K12 have announced they will be providing free lunch to children in the community during the summer months. The Summer Meal Program will begin on June 14th and lunch will be served each Monday-Thursday at Valdese Elementary School and Mountain View Elementary School cafeterias from 11-1. Any child 18 or under can get a free lunch each day at one of the locations. Lunch will include an entrée, and fruits and vegetables. Parents or Siblings older than 18 can also get a lunch for just $3.76 each. The meals must be eaten in the cafeteria and there will not be food available for take out. The summer lunch program in Burke County will run from June 14th-Thursday August 17th, with no service on Fridays. For more information call 828-439-4318.
