The Lenoir police department has reported that the State Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer involved shooting that occurred Tuesday June 13. The report states that around 7:20 am officers with Lenoir police were called to a possible overdose at a home on Starcross road. The report also states that upon arriving at the home, they tried to speak to a woman at the home when she is said to have become agitated and she produced 2 knives. An officer is said to have used their taser on the woman which caused her to drop the knives momentarily, but police say the woman regained control of the knives and charged at the officers with the weapons. One of the officers shot the woman and she later died at the hospital. The officer has been placed on administrative leave which is standard in a case of this nature.
