The recent heavy rains created another issue in the area with untreated sewage discharging. The city of Marion says that 3100 gallons of untreated sewage discharged in on Forsythe Street in the Clinchfield section of Marion. Crews say that the heavy rains falling into the collection system caused an equipment failure. The discharge went into an unnamed tributary of Lake James. The N.C. division of water resources is looking into this incident.
