Morganton Man Arrested on Drug Charges

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested a Morganton man on several charges stemming from an alleged high-speed chase and narcotics investigation. Joseph Mosteller of Dysartville Road in Morganton was arrested June 23 and charged with trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl, speeding to elude arrest and several other felony and misdemeanor charges.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, investigators attempted a traffic stop and the suspect fled before crashing into an embankment at U.S. 70 and Powerhouse Road. He was apprehended after fleeing on foot. Investigators found methamphetamine and fentanyl in the vehicle as well as at a home on Drexel Road. Mosteller was held with no bond and due in court earlier this week.
