Update: On July 28, 2023, at 02:33 a.m., Dennis James Danner, Jr. turned himself into the Burke County Jail. Danner was able to post the $3,500 in combined secured bonds and was released.

Burke County Sheriff’s Office detention officers accidently released 42-year-old Dennis James Danner, Jr. of Morganton from custody on Monday after mistaking him for another inmate with a similar name.
The error was discovered during an inmate check at 5:30 a.m. on July 25. Danner, who is a 197-pound white male with brown eyes, was in custody on three counts of communicating threats and two charges of probation violation.
Anyone with information on Danner’s location is asked to call the Burke County Sheriff’s Office at 828-438-5500.
