The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has confirmed that a long-track EF-1 tornado struck Catawba, Iredell and Rowan counties Monday afternoon. The tornado began near Conover moved through Sherrill’s Ford and Mooresville before ending near China Grove.
The path stretched more than 37 miles and its maximum winds topped 110 miles per hour. Damage included snapped and uprooted trees as well as damage to buildings.
