The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has released the names of the victims of a Sunday morning plane crash on Lake Hickory. The pilot was 63-year-old Jeffrey Jay Cooley of Granite Falls and the passenger was 49-year-old Brian Frank Miller of Hickory. According to the highway patrol, a single-engine amphibious plane had just departed the Hickory Regional Airport when it struck overhead power lines and crashed into the lake. The FAA is conducting the investigation.
