Burke County Sheriff’s Office deputies recently attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle with two occupants at the intersection of Antioch Road and NC 18-U.S. 64. The duo attempted to flee the scene at high speeds. After a short chase the operator lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. The operator again attempted to flee the scene and was apprehended after a foot chase.
The subject was identified as 39-year-old Christopher Dean Lunsford of Morganton and found to be in possession of a firearm. The passenger of the motorcycle was identified as 29-year-old Autumn Marie Burhans of Morganton, who was also in possession of a firearm and 7 grams of Fentanyl. Lunsford was charged with Flee and Elude Arrest, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Resisting a Public Officer. He was placed in the Burke County Jail under a $75,000 secured bond. Burhans was charged and arraigned with Trafficking Fentanyl and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and placed in the Burke County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond. Burke County EMS and Morganton Department of Public Safety assisted with the case.
