The Catawba County Board of Education will have a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21 in the boardroom at Catawba County Schools Administrative Services, 2285 North Anderson Avenue, Newton. The purpose of the meeting is a public hearing on two challenged books: Beyond Magenta by Susan Kuklin and Out of Darkness by Ashley Hope Pérez.
