A Taylorsville woman was killed in a traffic crash Wednesday morning in Alexander County on U.S. 64 near Liberty Grove Church Road. The driver, 79-year-old Omie Troxell Echerd, was attempting to turn left from a private driveway and pulled into the path of a westbound pickup truck. Echerd died at the scene, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
