A local manhunt ended around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning on Melrose Street in Lenoir as Teddie Lee Robbins was taken into custody. He was charged with one count of second-degree kidnapping, one count of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, and one count of fleeing to elude arrest. The manhunt began Sunday evening after deputies with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop Robbins, who was wanted on a domestic related kidnapping charge. A vehicle chase took place from Sawmills School Road to Hickory Boulevard, including Robbins firing a handgun into the lead pursuit vehicle and the deputy returning fire. The pursuit ended when Robbins turned in to Reid Fabricators in Hudson and he fled into a wooded area behind the business. There were no injuries from the gunfire exchange. Robbins was placed into the Caldwell County Detention Center under $1.1 million secured bond. His first appearance set for Sept. 6 in District Court in Lenoir.
