There was a fatal collision on Startown Road at Catawba Valley Boulevard in Hickory Thursday morning. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a motorcycle was traveling east on Catawba Valley Boulevard, entered the intersection on a red light, and was struck by a pickup truck traveling north on Startown Road. The driver of the motorcycle, 62-year-old Gary Lee Washburn of Vale, was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries. No charges will be filed.
