HPD Pursuit Collision Kills Two

Two people were killed this weekend after a Hickory Police Officer collided with another vehicle while in a pursuit. The incident began late Friday when an officer attempted to stop a motorcycle on U.S. 70 for careless and reckless driving. At the intersection of U.S. 70 and 13th Street SW, the police vehicle struck a minivan. The minivan driver, a 38-year-old female, was killed at the scene and a juvenile, who was transported to the hospital, died on Sunday. The officer and their front-seat passenger were treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The motorcycle fled scene.
