The Alexander County Board of Commissioners and the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office have approved a three-year agreement with the Town of Taylorsville to provide school resource officers at Taylorsville Elementary School and Alexander Early College and Student Success Center.
According to an Alexander County news release, each SRO will cost approximately $70,000 in salary and benefits, plus equipment, weapons and vehicle. Taylorsville will pay all costs associated with the two new school resource officer positions. The Alexander Sheriff’s Office now will employ a total of 10 school resource officers across the county.
