Breaking and Entering solved on S. Sterling Street

On 11-14-23 MDPS officers responded to 1525 S. Sterling Street to a reported breaking and entering and larceny after the fact. Upon speaking with the victims, officers were able to get a good list of the items that were stolen. One of the victim’s reported seeing a female throwing trash away in a trash bag that matched the box that had been stolen. The victim waited until the female was gone and then checked the unattended bag where he located several of the items missing from his residence. Officers then made contact with the suspect at her residence nearby. After receiving consent to look around the apartment officers discovered several items that had been listed as stolen to include children’s toys. The suspect identified as Deborah Hallyburton of 1523 S. Sterling Street admitted to the crimes and ultimately worked with officers to secure all of the stolen items to be returned to the victim. Hallyburton was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, and misdemeanor damage to personal property. She was taken before a magistrate where she was given a $5,000.00 secured bond and a first appearance of 11-16-2023 in District Court.
