On November 15, 2023 at 7:40 a.m., Morganton Public Safety responded to a call of a deceased person located behind the Kava Bar located at 2308 S Sterling St. Officers arrived and discovered the remains of a male located behind the business. The Morganton Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene to complete the investigation. MDPS Investigators identified the deceased male as Jason Lee Hollifield of 7043 Nugget Dr. Morganton. MDPS was assisted by Burke County EMS and Morganton Public Safety Fire. There is no foul play suspected at this time however the investigation is still ongoing.
