𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞

ɴᴇᴡᴛᴏɴ, ɴ.ᴄ. – On Saturday, 01/06/2024 deputies with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence in the 4000 block of Deal Rd. When deputies arrived they encountered an adult male armed with a firearm. That person recessed back into the residence in question when approached by deputies. 
As additional deputies arrived they confirmed that the person initially encountered stated to a family member that another person was deceased inside the residence. With that information deputies and officers with Catawba County’s Special Tactics and Response (STAR) Team made immediate entry into the Deal Rd residence. Once inside, deputies confirmed that an adult female was deceased inside the residence. The adult male initially encountered by law enforcement was taken to a local hospital and treated for, his injuries. 
It is unclear the events leading up to the woman’s death and no details have yet been given. 
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division has initiated an investigation into this incident. An updated release will be posted once charges have been filed.
