(HICKORY) – Hickory Police investigated a fatal traffic crash involving a pedestrian on Wednesday, January 10. At 6:40 p.m., Michael Allen Squire, 56, of Hickory, was attempting to cross the 2000 block of Catawba Valley Blvd SE and was struck by a 2014 Cadillac SRX traveling west on Catawba Valley Blvd SE. Squire was pronounced dead at the scene by Catawba County EMS. The Hickory Fire Department also responded. The incident is still under investigation and there are currently no charges as of Thursday, January 11.
