Burke County Fire Departments to receive NC Budget Allocation

Volunteer fire departments in Burke County will be receiving a North Carolina State budget allocation totaling $4 million dollars.

Each of the 15 Burke County fire districts will receive funding in varying amounts ranging from just over $400,000 to just under $100,000.

Burke County Manager Brian Epley came up with the allocation formula which he says equates to around 60.5% of the fire department’s 2023-2024 budget.

The fire departments and money they will receive are:

  • Brendletown Fire Department: $280,660.23
  • Chesterfield Fire Department: $196,654.18
  • Drowning Creek Fire Department: $65,134.83
  • Enola Fire Department: $98,728.44
  • George Hildebran Fire Department: $252,194.43
  • Icard Fire Department: $622,363.10
  • Jonas Ridge Fire Department: $165,342.74
  • Lake James Fire Department: $218,597.67
  • Longtown Fire Department: $157,621.12
  • Lovelady Fire Department: $467,364.12
  • Oak Hill Fire Department: $326,243.90
  • Salem Fire Department: $311,634.84
  • South Mountain Fire Department: $93,713.95
  • Triple Community Fire Department: $429,391.89
  • West End Fire Department: $314,354.56
