North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein said that he will appeal Duke Energy’s rate increase to the North Carolina Supreme Court.
Duke Energy implemented the first of three annual rate hike in January following the North Carolina Utilities Commission’s approval back in December.
The plan called for a total rate increase of 15% over the next three years with the average customer paying an additional $20 per month or $240 per year. Electric rates will increase by about 8.5% in 2024, 3.8% in 2025 and 3.5% in 2026.
