Western Piedmont Community College announced that Hollan Cline, Camden Cook, Cheongrok (Daniel) Lee, Solomon Yang, and Emma Whisnant have been selected as recipients of Western Piedmont Community College’s CREST scholarships for Spring 2024, funded by the NC Space Grant. CREST stands for Collaborative Research Experiences in Science and Technology and is an undergraduate research program at Western Piedmont Community College. Each student will receive a scholarship to support their educational expenses. These scholarships were awarded based on the student’s enrollment at WPCC and their participation in a CREST research project, culminating in the presentation of their research at the NC Space Symposium at North Carolina State University on March 22, 2024. Research projects are student-led and currently involve exercise physiology, paleontology, genetics and gene expression, rare and endangered plants, and water quality and fisheries biology.
