Morganton Department of Public Safety received a call Saturday morning at just before noon reporting a deceased man near the railroad tracks close to Herron St. Officers responded and located a male lying on the ground a short distance from the railroad tracks. Burke County EMS also responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. The identity of the man has not been released and at this point in the investigation there is no foul play suspected. The case remains open pending autopsy results.
