Newton, N.C. – On Thursday, 03/14/2024, investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office
Criminal Investigations Division charged Jeffery Dean Griffin with eighteen counts of Sexual Offenses
Against Minors. These offenses are reported to have occurred between 1995 and 2019.
Griffin, a Catawba resident, has been charged with one count of 1st Degree Forcible Sex Offense, three
counts of 1st Degree Statutory Sex Offense, one count of Statutory Sex Offense with a Person who is 15
Years of Age or Younger and thirteen counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child.
Griffin, 57, received a $1,200,000.00 secured bond and has a first appearance in Catawba County District
Court on 03/15/2024.
Sheriff’s Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have yet to be identified. Anyone with
