MDPS officers responded to Food Lion on Burkemont Avenue to a larceny. The reporting party advised the subject went behind the store toward a homeless camp. Officers began to check the area when they observed the suspect. After being told to stop and speak with them the subject later identified as Glen Ray Lail Jr. fled the area and officers gave pursuit. Lail continued through the wooded area behind Food Lion and Lowes Hardware before crossing Interstate 40 where he was taken down in the median by PSOs Cooper and Morris. After a brief struggle he was taken into custody and transported to the magistrate’s office where he was charged with larceny as well as two counts of Resisting a Public Officer. Lail was given no bond as he was already out on bond for another charge. He has a court date of 4-11-24 at 0900 in District Court.
